At the age of seven, Matt was enchanted by the romantic compositions of Frederic Chopin. Soon after, he would take piano lessons to be able to play them himself. The complex and profound harmonies of Chopin have made a lasting impression on him, leading him to study jazz piano at the Royal Conservatory. Matt is still inspired by the interface between jazz and classical music, similar to his hero Bill Evans, who also started as a classical pianist. “I want my music to bring the listener joy and solace.”
